Saturday, July 31 Los Alamos Chair Faire Benefit for Olga Reed School
Merchants in Los Alamos invite the public to partcipate and enjoy the first annual Chair Faire from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Chairs will be lined up along the sidewalk of Bell Street, the main avenue . Raffle tickets @ $5 will benefit the school, and the drawing will be at 3 p.m. in front of the post office. There will be four categories where chairs will be judged and prizes awarded. Those categories are: Most Pristine Antique Chair; Most Unique Art Chair; Chair With Most Potential; Best All Around Can't-Stop-Talking-About-It Chair. Prizes are gift certificates from Los Alamos merchants. Judging will take place at noon. Plus . . .play Musical Chairs to live fiddle music starting at 11:00am. Sunday, August 1 St. Mark's-in-the-Valley Cellar Classic: An Auction of Rare & Fine Wines
The public is invited to attend the first-ever Cellar Classic: An Auction of Rare & Fine Wines from 4:00-7:00pm in the Church’s garden courtyard and Stacy Hall located at 2901 Nojoqui Avenue at the corner of Alamo Pintado Avenue (one block west of the flagpole) in downtown Los Olivos. Event is co-chaired by Brooks Firestone (owner of Curtis Winery); Richard Harris (owner of Calzada Ridge).and Steve Pepe (owner of Clos Pepe) and will feature a live auction of fine collectable wines (including 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild, 1996 Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin and 1992 Taylor Vintage Port among many others) conducted by Jim Farnum and Andrew Firestone; a silent auction of other wines, wine-related gifts and vacation packages as well as bountiful gourmet hors d’oeuvres accompanied by live entertainment. All food, wines, auction items and other expenditures associated with the Cellar Classic are being donated by members and friends of St. Mark’s so that all proceeds will go directly to the church to support its community programs and services. Tickets are $100 per person in advance and $125 (if available) at the door with payment by check, credit card and PayPal.
